Director of Instructional Technology and Professional Development
My name is Michelle Gohagon, and I am the Director of Instructional Technology and Professional Development for Middletown Public Schools. My role as the Director of Instructional Technology and Professional Development is to work with district and school leaders, the instructional technology coach, technology department, educators, and students to establish a vision for instructional technology and to determine how to best achieve this vision. Our team's responsibility is to provide professional development, one-on-one coaching, and co-teaching opportunities for Middletown Public Schools educators so that they can successfully integrate technology into their professional roles to provide authentic, and meaningful learning experiences for students with technology that align with curriculum standards and goals. I have worked in Middletown Public Schools for the past three years, prior to that I was a technology integration specialist for 5 years, and a history/social studies teacher for 7 years. |
Instructional Technology Coach
My name is Steve Matthews, and I have been a music teacher here in Middletown at Woodrow Wilson Middle School for 15 years, as well as the Educational Technology Specialist for the middle school for 6 years. I have been the district's Instructional Technology Coach since Fall 2017. My purpose is to assist and train teachers in the use of technology in the classroom. If you are a tech newbie and need help with the basics, or you are an advanced user, I will help you to further your understanding and abilities regarding how you can use various technology to expand your teaching. Secondary Blended Learning CoachScot Peaslee received his Bachelor's Degree in History and Political science from and his Master's in Education from the University of Connecticut and a Sixth Year in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University. As the Secondary Blended Learning Coach, Scot helps teachers advance instruction, maximize student engagement, and improve student outcomes through technology. Elementary Blended Learning Coach
Elisha Carta has been an educator for 22 years and has Kindergarten, 3rd grade, 5th grade and special education classroom experience. She holds a B.S in Elementary Education with a concentration in Spanish from CCSU, a M.A. in Special Education from New York University, and a 6th year certificate from the UCAPP program at UCONN. Her goal as the Blended Learning Coach is to collaborate with teachers to blend the use of instructional best practices with technology tools in order to provide all students with voice and choice in their learning. These partnerships will take many forms, including collaborative lesson planning, modelling lessons, co-teaching, researching new and innovative teaching techniques, and finding resources. Innovation CoachRebecca Deotte received her Masters in Library and Information Sciences with a concentration in School Libraries and MakerSpaces from Southern Connecticut State University. In addition to her work with the Office of Innovation and Grants, she supports teachers with incorporating project based learning, STEM/STEAM and MakerSpace into their practice.
